The BBC brief was to provide high quality preview theatres with a 'club class' feel to enable them to entertain and show film product to their European and overseas clients.
Stringent technical and acoustic standards were set by the BBC.

The design sought to employ a combination of 'warm' veneers, fabric acoustic panelling and contrasting colours to comply with the brief.

The 'club class feel was accomplished by the use of superior Quinette Gallay cinema seating.
